Hazmat transporters now must have fingerprints, background checks
LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Commercial truck drivers who transport hazardous material now must have their fingerprints taken and their background checked under provisions of the federal Patriot Act. The new requirement took effect Monday for drivers seeking a new application to haul hazardous material, such as flammable solids, gases or radioactive materials, Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land said.
