Sexual assault victims sues owners of Kelcey’s Nutrition Centre

Another reason why conducting inferior background checks or none at all create huge risks for employers. Yet I still run across some employers who think they don’t need to screen employees. Then there are those who think a eight or ten dollar database check is sufficient. Well tell that to the jury!

Iowa associate judge background checks not required

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

In this very interesting article, you find out that in Iowa, you can become a judge without getting a background check conducted on yourself. If you want to work at the local store, a background check is required, but if you want to sit on the bench and judge others, you do not have to submit to a background check. I think that is a flaw in the system that led to possible fraud.

The Perception of the Invasion of Privacy

Declaration of Independence
Background checks, the phrase brings with it a connotation of mystery. Many people aren’t even aware of what a background check entails. Many people are worried, wrongly I might add, about an invasion of privacy. Why do I, as an employer, get to know about your background? Well, there are many reasons but I would say that the most compelling among them is because I do not want to lose my business! Is it fair to judge someone based on their past performance? In many instances I would say yes! How come I get to pick and choose who works for my company? Because, it is my business! I owe my employees a safe workplace. I owe my family a secure future.

Dude! You’re getting a pain in the A**

Monday, August 6th, 2007

Hi folks,
Sorry there have not been any recent updates as of late. I have been in the process of fixing my computer, a Dell. I have had several Dells and this one has given me the most problems. I thought I was having some video card issues and as it turns out the entire motherboard was messed up. Now, you can’t just go and throw any old motherboard in a Dell BTX case because that would be way too simple. Sooo, long story short: I needed to get a new case, new video card, new heat sink, and a new motherboard. The great thing is though I now have pretty much a brand new computer that kicks butt! I am now sitting here downloading Vista (I know, I know) and waiting to install that. Meanwhile the new beast is sitting here quietly humming away doing it’s job with out one complaint so far (knock on fiberboard).

Back To The Topic of Background Checks

I will be continuing my series on how to conduct a free background check on Monday. Just a heads up for those of you that are hanging out at my blog all day waiting for my next invaluable nugget of information. Now go enjoy your weekend.

Giving Away The Store!

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

In many of my recent articles I have been explaining how to conduct your own background checks for free. I have received more than a few emails from people in the employment screening and investigative industry concerned that I was giving away too much information and that people may not need to use our (employment screening) services if they can just go and do their own background checks. I look at it like this. If someone wants to conduct their own background checks, fine let them. The Internet is all about the free exchange of ideas.

Yes, I am a capitalist along with millions of others in The United States. The company I work for is an expert in the background check industry. We have been doing this for years and years. We have great clients, I don’t think they are going anywhere soon. We provide a great product at a great price. I truly have faith that once someone tries our services and sees how hassle free it is they will pay the little bit extra and get a professionally done background check that is not only FCRA compliant but lowers there liability.
