Online Wife Kills Her Online Husband Online

In what is strange turn for online crime, a virtual husband and wife broke up and the wife used the user id and password to kill her former husband’s online character:

TOKYO - A 43-year-old Japanese piano teacher’s sudden divorce from her online husband in a virtual game world made her so angry that she logged on and killed his digital persona, police said Thursday.

State Governments Protect Employers Who Conduct Background Checks

Some state governments are now becoming involved and have recently enacted legislation to help employers decrease liability and the potential for workplace violence. Failure to take advantage of this new legislation may be costly, both in liability and harm to employees (Fla. Stat. § 768.096). This new law creates a presumption against negligent hiring if an employer conducts a reasonable background investigation. Read more…
